MM: Richard you’re not exactly a novice how long have you been in the business?
RF: 48 years. I started in 1960 as a barber. When I got out of the Army my brother suggested I go to hairdressing school and I did.
I opened my current salon in Wellesley Hills, MA in 1963.
MM: Wellesley Hills is a very upscale and competitive area how have you flourished all those years.
RF: Constantly going to education, providing great customer service, and remembering the customer is always right.
MM: You have been involved in other aspects of the industry as well, could you tell us about that?
RF: I was nominated to Inter-Coiffure over 30 years ago and travel to their educational events all over the world.
I also worked as a guest artist for Redken during the 1970’s and performed at two international seminars in California as well as traveled throughout New England training Hairdressers how to Permanent Wave.
MM: I know that you used your last brand of color for over 20 years why hadn’t you switched during that time.
RF: I really like my color brand and it performes. I checked out other brands and never found one that could to out perform what I was using.
I also appreciate the fact that it’s a healthy color due to its low ammonia. The Ammonia content is so low that it’s better for the clients and the staff.
